Both are equipped with facilities to manage most kinds of cargo, but Shuwaikh is the regular port of entry for most consumer goods entering the country by container ship. Shuaiba, located in Kuwait's refining and manufacturing complex, receives some of the country's industrial goods imports and is the export point for petrochemicals, sulfur and petroleum coke.
The road system in Kuwait is modern, well lit and easily navigated by car. Most business executives hire an automobile with driver to manage most of their transportation needs.
Warehouses are available in Kuwait not only in Shuwaikh but also at Shuaiba and in large refrigerated warehouses in other locations. Several leading importers also have their own warehousing facilities.
Goods entered temporarily into Kuwait can be done so under a Customs bond with the bond being remitted to the importer upon export of the product or goods in question. The Kuwait Free Trade Zone is located at Shuwaikh Port. The trade zone allows for full trade, service and industrial activities.
